In the front of my copy!

I love seeing how author’s lives shape their writings.

In my copy there are little footnotes that tell about buildings he is describing that are actually from Dickens childhood and what the old words mean! Fun little tidbits!

I love when authors can’t help but foreshadow. You can almost feel their excitement! Looking at you page one Shakespeare reference 😏

(the throng of spirits eerily drifting through the fog just outside Scrooge’s window).

We are finishing up Christmas Carol this week (or you can take the rest of the year, if you like 😊)! January 1 we will start Little Women, so make sure you have your copy 😊

I think I’ll be in it till Christmas at least. I’m only on stave 3. I’m glad I’ve seen the movie before reading because his descriptions with the spirits are so odd and dream-like. I have those movie scenes in my mind to help pull together what he’s talking about.

I just finished up. Thanks, again, Jordan for the audio link! That helped me finish it up quickly. Fred is my favorite character and my goal is to be more like him, not letting others diminish my spirit or have effect on my attitude in life! I also love that when Scrooge came to reconcile with him, there was not a moment of hesitation! Fred heartily welcomed Scrooge into fellowship.
Over all, a great little read. Short, sweet, and to the point 😊

What a fun novella! And this is the first time I’ve read Dickens, and I LOVE his writing!
Christmas is not my favorite time of the year, nor my favorite holiday. I have a cute household decoration that says, “Bah, humbug!” that I put up every Christmas as a funny reminder to my family that this season is just not my season, but after reading this book, I am reconsidering it…

Jaime, Doug Wilson has a couple great books on Christmas and several podcast episodes/videos on the topic as well. He has really helped me see the importance of celebrating Christmas! This was my first time reading Dickens as well. While I like his writing, I still prefer Austen or Brontë. I found myself getting a smidge lost with Dickens.
