I totally agree Jaime! I love that there are so many new resources out there for homeschool families. Wilsonā€™s school, Logos, has online classes now as well. I really struggle with this sometimes because I think that a quality private school could do a better job than I can and I would do a good job of being involved in the school and continuing the education at home. I want so much for my kids and donā€™t want to fail them. Canā€™t wait to read chapter 10!

Toward the end of chapter 5, Wilson talks about teachers loving what they are teaching. I struggle with this because I really dislike math. I can see the result of that in Anabelle. She is good at math but it is a drudgery for her and I donā€™t know how to make it lovely for her. Iā€™m dying to put her in an online math class šŸ˜† So does anyone have any great ideas on how to love teaching math?

Chapters 5&6 this week! What are you ladies finding most fascinating so far? I loved his points on why public schools should not have prayer and Bible in them.

Letā€™s start with chapters 1-4 this week. You all give me feedback and let me know if thatā€™s too many/too few chapters at the end of the week and weā€™ll adjust next week šŸ˜Š

I also love that he talks about being a good receiver. Maybe instead of saying ā€œYou shouldnā€™t haveā€ when someone gives us a gift we should say ā€œthank you for your thoughtfulnessā€! When we have been on the receiving end of meals from families in the church I have always apologized for people having to drive so far to drop the meal off. But if Iā€™m driving to take someone else a meal, I donā€™t think a thing of it. If they didnā€™t want to give me a gift, they wouldnā€™t have. I just need to be thankful so many people love me.

I also tend to grumble about the amount of toys my kids receive at Christmas. We have three kids and two of them have December birthdays (19th and 25th), so the gifts pile up very quickly in December. I can become ungrateful, thinking that people just donā€™t care how many junky toys I have to pick up off the floor every day. But this book has convicted me of my ungratefulness and being a bad receiver.
