Ahhh just finished it!!! Oh my goodness the ending makes you just love the whole book so much more. Ok guys, I have to confess. Jo was my favorite character. 🤭 I could have totally misread her but I just so related to her Tom boy, almost rebellious at time, brashness. I felt like this a bit in my growing up years, sometimes still at times, and I love it that Jo found her place loving and raising a bunch of little boys. Reminded me of my little Ragamuffins and how God has perfectly suited me to them. ❤️❤️❤️ Ah and the end where Marme gets to see the beautiful harvest of their years. Just so good. Sigh. ❤️❤️❤️

I’m not done yet! I have like 5 more chapters to go! But I’m reading it before bed so I’ll eventually get through.

Yes! I loved chapter two and the way he put together; if you prioritize sports, etc above church attendance or spiritual walk don’t be surprised when your children do the same when they’re out of the house. I also really appreciated his honesty in this chapter with the way he told instances they had to reorient their family when things got out of balance. Consistence reevaluation of how things are going is so helpful.

I just finished chapter 1 too! So much underlining! I’m glad he laid out the stats on children of believing families leaving the faith in droves. That the status quo is not working. Sending children off to be educated and discipled by those “out there” is not an option. I liked how he laid out the 3 ways parents are missing the mark; education, sports, and time.

“ on the contrary, my wife and I are fanatics about our children’s education. However education is not our primary goal. It’s for them to walk with the Lord.”

I’ve been thinking about this lately! We are very serious about our kids education. But there are lots of things that are more important than that. Walk with Christ, family well being, community of believers. I like that he brought up this point.

Also so true the anti family culture in some Christian circles. Like mission work is glorious, family life or children are not. Tell that to Amy Carmichael, Gladys Alward…lol

I also liked how the chapter ended with a reminder that the stakes are high and the time is short. Can’t wait for chapter 2!

I’m only 2 chapters in and I’m already loving it so much!! How sweet of a relationship the girls have with their marme. ❤️❤️❤️ I love seeing how they love serving and helping her. I want to read this with my kids one day because there are so many sweet lessons. When they gave their breakfast to the unfortunate family. 😭❤️😭. Love how they play pilgrims progress. Ugh. It’s just so heart warming. I’m enthralled.

Yes. I also loved that she said make this home happy until you get one of your own and if not be content here. Having daughters remain at home until marriage was not a concept I had growing up. And now I want our daughters to remain under their father’s care until they’re under their husband’s care. Not a very pc thing of course.

Yes! Chapter 8 has been my favorite so far. It was so sweet to read about the dad helping Marme overcome her sin of anger. And also in chapter 9. Love the way marme teaches the girls and how the chapters often end with epic parenting examples.
